My modus operandi has been to travel to places I’ve never been before, by plane or train or road trips. I settle into a place for a while. Then, daily, with camera in tow, head for the green – what ever that might be – an orchard, an olive grove, a sacred forest, a mountain top. A heightened sense of curiosity and inspiration comes from the new-ness of the environment and the culture that shapes that space. I ask the people I meet to tell me about what the land means to them. Their thoughts, as well as my understanding of history, mythology, folklore. along with my own meditative wanderings all contribute to the choices I make when I make a photograph.
